Everything is made in one factory in Spartan, Kempton Park, and it goes out from there to sites in every province. This page is about that second part — how a structure reaches a site a long way from the factory, and what genuinely changes about the job when it does.

How it works
Factory to site, wherever the site is.
One factory, one erection team, and a structure that leaves here complete. The sequence is the same whether the site is twenty minutes away or on the other side of the country.
- You tell us the site
- The span, length and eaves height if you know them, or just what the building is for. The site address matters as much as the dimensions, because it determines the design wind load and which municipality the plans go to.
- A civil engineer designs it for that site
- Not a Gauteng design sent further away. The engineer's drawing and certificate is supplied on request for your building plan submission, wherever the site falls.
- It is fabricated complete in Spartan
- Cut, drilled and checked in our own factory before anything ships. On unusual work we trial-assemble it in our yard first, so what arrives is known to fit.
- It ships as a kit, with every fastener
- Down to the foundation bolts and the setting-out for them. Nothing needs sourcing at the far end and no fabrication capability is needed near the site.
- We erect it, or your team does
- Our in-house erection team delivers and erects throughout South Africa, which is what we recommend. For remote sites and export orders we supply delivery-only, flat-packed, for erection by a local team.
What changes
Distance is the least of it.
What actually differs between a Kempton Park job and one in Limpopo or the Karoo is decided before anything is cut — the wind the frame is designed for, the air it will stand in, and the municipality that has to approve it.
All of which is why the enquiry asks for the site address and not just the size.
- Design wind load
- Wind load varies with location and exposure, and a coastal or exposed site carries more of it than the Highveld. The engineer designs the frame for where it is going — it is the main reason the site address is asked for at enquiry stage.
- Corrosion environment
- Roof sheeting is galvanised IBR as standard. Coastal air is more aggressive than inland air, and that is a specification conversation to have before fabrication rather than after the first winter.
- The municipality, not the province
- Approved building plans are required everywhere in South Africa, but requirements and interpretations vary between municipalities — and approval is often the longest item on the whole programme. We supply the structural engineering for whichever authority the site falls under.
- Foundations stay local
- Isolated concrete bases under each column, sized to the loads and to what your soil can bear, so a soil assessment is worth having on anything substantial. The bases are arranged locally; the foundation bolts and their setting-out come with the structure.
- Site access and fall
- What can reach the site, and what the ground does across the footprint, are both design inputs rather than delivery-day surprises. A slope is workable — we have stepped each bay of a run of mini factory units to follow one. Tell us at enquiry stage.
- Transport is quoted with the structure
- Per site, from the address, alongside everything else in the quote. We publish no delivery rate for the same reason we publish no prices: steel is a traded commodity and every job is different.
- Programme comes with the quote
- We give a realistic programme for your job rather than a standard lead time we might not hold to. Plan approval and foundations are usually the real constraint, not fabrication.

Delivery, erection & export.
Do you erect the structure, or just supply it?
Either. We deliver and erect throughout South Africa with our in-house erection team, which is what we recommend — the people erecting it work with these frames daily. For export and remote sites we supply delivery-only, flat-packed with every fastener and foundation bolt, for erection by a local team.
Do you export?
Yes. Since 1999 we have supplied structures into most African countries, several Indian Ocean islands and as far as Curaçao and Suriname — including a product store for a ruby mine in Mozambique, football stands, a skylight to the DRC and an overbuild over a war-damaged building. Export orders ship complete so that no fabrication capability is needed on site.
How do you handle a site with no fabrication facilities nearby?
Everything is fabricated, drilled and checked here before it ships, and on anything unusual we trial-assemble it in our own yard first — we did exactly that with the football stand that went to Mozambique. What arrives is a kit that bolts together to the drawing.
Can an existing structure be extended?
Along its length, straightforwardly — it means repeating an existing frame and continuing the sheeting. We have also built extensions tying into existing buildings, covered areas bridging two buildings, and a structure built over an existing damaged building. Widening an existing frame is a much larger job than lengthening one.
